Me in 5 words or less

As of right now, I don't need five words - I only need one:

Procrastinator.

It's a sinful word, that. I promise I'll be back with more content very soon.

Much love. xx

Confessions Of A {Semi-} Stay At Home Mom

Jan 23, 2014

I love being a mom. I love my daughter more than I ever thought possible. As hard as we may try though, none of us are perfect. Especially when it comes to motherhood... People will judge you if you do things differently than them, or if you haven't done everything 'by the book'. We're all human. We make mistakes. It's trial and error and that's okay because that's just life.

It was too gorgeous of a day yesterday to stay indoors.
Oh, and I was getting a little restless from being home for almost a week straight.
I had to get out before I lost my shit.

Rediscover Your Home

Jan 19, 2014

I'll admit it, I'm definitely a homebody. I prefer to be home (most of the time) so of course I like for my surroundings to look nice. Being here as much as I am though, It's easy to start overlooking some of the aspects of my home that I used to love.

My Week In Photos - Jan. 12-18

Jan 18, 2014

Let me just start out by saying my weeks lately have been fairly uneventful and will probably remain so until the weather warms back up. I am absolutely a cold weather hater. Like seriously, if it gets below 50 you'll see me running from the warmth of my car to the warmth of my house. Not kidding. Cold weather means this girl will be inside 98% of the day. Another factor is that I'm in between jobs at the moment so most of my days are filled with coffee, computer research, and my beautiful and ever growing baby girl. So be expecting lots of Evelyn in these posts (at least for the time being). OK, on to the good stuff.

Thrift Store Finds (Vol. 1)

Jan 16, 2014

For the first time in what feels like such a long time, I went to check out some of my local antique malls and thrift stores a few days ago. The weather was just too perfect to stay in the house so off I went!

It was so great to get out of the house for a bit and what better way to spend the day than perusing your favorite local shops? I can't think of one. I didn't have much money to spend but I still ended up coming away with some of the things I've been looking for and at such great deals! Yeah!
I'm a sucker for a good deal, some of these places really get me with their sales...I mean really who can say no to half off? (Unfortunately I had to say no to one item that's been haunting me ever since I walked out of the store. I've been fighting a desperate urge to go back for it - like NOW - but alas, bills first, then used goodies. Priorities, Olivia...priorities. *sigh

Hey, at least I got the pretty blue mason jars I've been looking for since the summer. :) Not all was lost!

40 Things To See And Do In Atlanta (17 Of Them Are FREE!)

I've been looking up a bunch of date night ideas lately for me and my boyfriend to switch things up and try something new - mainly because it's one of the things I plan on working to be better at in 2014 (you can check out the full list here). Who doesn't love a fun date night involving something neither of you have done before?
Oh, and we live very much on a budget so a lot of these things to do are FREE:)

I am all about new experiences so I'm always looking for something to do or making lists of what we should do in the future.

My Story: Why I Started Blogging

Jan 13, 2014

I never intended to become a writer.

I've never even particularly liked writing. In high school, I avoided it at all costs, generally taking the "BS" route when forced to write essays or stories, etc. And English 101 in college? Failed it. Twice. I'm not even kidding. It's a little embarrassing to admit actually. (To come to my own defense, I had different priorities than writing college essays back then. Let's just say I lacked a certain focus.)

What inspired me to create this blog was certainly not an affinity for writing or a need to get a point across or a passion for design or fashion or whatever it may be. I started this blog for the mere reason that I loved reading others' blogs. And I wanted my own.

I wanted my own little part of the internet that I could be proud of. Something that I could look back on in a few years and take a peek at what my life used to be like. If you asked me where I was 2 years ago today, I couldn't tell you even if my life depended on it. That information just doesn't stay with me long. And I figure this is a much better way to document my life and ramblings than a traditional photo album. While I love albums, they certainly leave something to be desired. So, here we are.

My blog interest started about this time last year. I was pregnant and staying at home while my boyfriend worked, plus we were living in a new place without much to do or anyone to talk to really. So I started to look around online for advice about my pregnancy and wanting to connect with other first time moms. {None of my friends had any babies and it was hard to relate when all I was interested in was baby talk - totally out of their comfort zones. It was a little out of mine too to be honest.} My online search led to the infinitely vast world of blogging and everything that goes along with it. And it was awesome.

I couldn't get enough of it.

There was just so much to see and read and so many ideas to be shared and projects to take on. I was overwhelmed with the idea of so many people connected by one thing. The internet. This probably amazed me so much because the furthest I'd ever really ventured into the social aspect of internet communication and expression was Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Ya know, the basics. And honestly, I didn't particularly like any of them except Pinterest. There's really not much to it at all. If you had an appreciation for someone else's board, you followed it, if you liked their pin, you re-pinned it. Simple as that. Not to mention the amazing amount of inspiration one can glean off of Pinterest. The possibilities are truly endless.

The reason I don't care much for Twitter and Facebook is because I usually find it difficult to 'be myself'. I'm generally the quiet girl that hangs out in the background and observes vs participating in the action. I'm an observer. You'd be amazed how much you can learn about people by simply observing. However, you can't just observe forever. Eventually you have to take that leap and do something for yourself. I say this very delicately, because I personally find the art of observation pretty fulfilling, but -
observation without action gets you no where.

So I finally decided it was time for me to take a step out and help myself for a change. And this is that step.
I have a ton of things I'd love to do with this blog and I'm still so much of a beginner that I find it exciting to get more than 20 page views in a day. Yep, total newb. I have about a million and one things planned for this site but you'll have to be patient with me. I'm probably the most indecisive person in the world so every time you come back, there will be familiarity but there will probably be lots of changes too. That's just the way I am, I like to keep it fresh and pretty - I never seem to be satisfied when it come to this kind of thing. There is always room for improvement!
I'd love for you guys to follow me on my journey with this blog and stay for a while. Feel free to give any feedback, I'd love to hear from you :)

Jan 11, 2014

Here's a little rundown of my week in photos! :)

How To Make Your Blog Pretty - About Me Sidebar

Jan 6, 2014

I love learning new things that I can do to make my blog prettier and today I learned another one! Yay me! I decided to share it with you guys because it took me so. freaking. long. to find this damn tutorial. I'm hoping this will make it easier for those of you either just starting out or who just haven't bothered about their sidebar in the past. Well now is the time, people! Make that blog pretty! And don't worry if you don't have a clue about HTML and what-nots, it's no biggie. :)

Project: Pinterest Purge (Getting Those Pinterest Boards Whipped Into Shape!)

Jan 5, 2014

First major organization project of the new year --> Organize my embarrassingly dysfunctional Pinterest page. I decided to post this today in case any of you were also in desperate need of a Pinterest board rehab (come on now, don't lie to yourself - you know you need to do it too. I know its a drag, but trust me, you'll thank yourself for it later.) So just do it. I can assure you, it's worth the time.

I know I'm not the only one when I say this: My Pinterest boards are for lack of a better explanation, A FREAKING DISASTER! Normally I just overlook such things but lately it has seriously been a drag to try to find anything in my own boards because they are entirely too cluttered. So what do I do? I go pin something else thats just like something that I've already pinned because I couldn't find it. Talk about adding to the clutter...

Pretty Bulletin Board DIY

Jan 4, 2014

So this all started a couple of months ago when I bought a pretty sizable cork board from Hobby Lobby thinking I'd find something to do with it. (Only because it was half off and the original price was 16.99. So 8.50 for a huge cork board? Sure! Why not? Right??)
Have I mentioned that I'm a huge sucker for anything on sale?
Well. It's honestly becoming an issue I need to work on. :/ Oops!

My Own Little Project 365

Jan 2, 2014

I'm determined to become a better (i.e. more creative) photographer without the use of editing tools this year. In honor of that, I've decided to try my own little version of the Project Life 365. Mine is going to be a little less daunting, my goal is still to take a photo a day (if not 20 or 30 photos per day) but its strictly for myself. If I miss a day, no big deal. However, if I do happen to get a somewhat decent shot that day then I will post it here to share :) So without further ado, here is my official first post!

What better photo to start with than my baby girl playing a game of peek-a-boo with her momma ;)

I'll be posting photos at least once a week but hopefully
more so keep checking back!

Oh and I know I'm a day late but HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Hoping this year brings everything you hope for and more!
