52 Week Photo Challenge : Week One - The View From Here

Feb 21, 2014

I decided to go with the prompt The View From Here for the first week of my 52 Week Photo Challenge. It seemed the most fitting considering Winter Storm Pax hit the South so heavily last week creating a very rarely seen Winter Wonderland. It was absolutely whimsical. Talk about having a field day with your camera! I didn't even have to go anywhere for fresh new scenery, it came to me in the form of SNOW! Funny how a little white stuff can drastically change the way a place looks. Just take a look for yourselves!

Updates and Apologies

Feb 19, 2014

Let me just start out by saying I am SO SORRY I've been away for so long! I feel like I've abandoned my blog. I can assure you, I haven't! It's just been an extremely busy last couple of weeks around here. It seems like something new pops up every day that needs immediate attention and blogging has somehow been pushed to the back burner throughout the chaos. Again, apologies y'all! I promise I'm here to stay for a while!

A little update on the goings on around here though - My boyfriend and I are finally moving back out of my mom's house! YAYYY! I cannot express enough how excited I am about this. Not that it's been awful living here or anything but I think it's safe to say that we've overstayed our welcome. Not to mention how extremely difficult it is to fit 2 grown ups, a baby, and enough stuff to fill an entire 2 bedroom home into one tiny room. It's been a very cluttered couple of months, as I'm sure you can imagine. It's such a breath of fresh air knowing that it's {hopefully} all coming to an end soon.

I've also been trying to focus more on my goals for February. Sleep has been an ultimate priority around here. (Which, if I'm being honest, is the main reason why there hasn't been a whole lot of action on the blog lately. Sleep first - blogging later.) I think it's doing wonders for my mindset though. I feel one hundred and fifty times better than I did this time last month. And I'm not kidding at all. I love sleep. Does wonders for the soul.  It was probably my favorite pass time before having Evelyn and I'm hoping to rekindle our relationship. So far, so good. ;)

Another little milestone that's happened since my disappearance from the wonderful world of blogging is that Evelyn turned 8 months old! OH MY GOSH. I swear she's just flying through these months like its nothing. Also during my short absence, she has mastered crawling and pulling up on just about any piece of furniture (or laundry basket or animal or large toy) that she can get close to. I'm watching her slip further and further into toddler-hood and away from babyhood. I haven't decided how I feel about this yet. I knew it was inevitable but it's just so bittersweet that the time is finally here.

And of course, who could forget Winter Storm Pax? But, more on that later ;) check back in a few days to see!!

I'll be back very soon y'all, no more long absences any time soon! xx

52 Week Photo Challenge

Feb 13, 2014

I'm not the best photographer, nor do I claim to be. Honestly I don't even feel right calling myself a "photographer". It's strictly a hobby for me as I'm sure it is for a lot of others - mainly for memory keeping and saving those little moments to be looked back on whenever. Just because it's mainly for myself though doesn't mean that I don't care what my photos look like or how they're presented. I'd still love for my photos to look as if they could have come form a professional.
Don't we all??

Because of this and my desire to learn and grow as the paparazzo of my family, I'm setting this challenge for myself - and if anyone else is interested please join me!
Everything's more fun with more people :)

The Countdown Begins

Feb 8, 2014

Ugh - It's that time of year again y'all. Have I mentioned I hate winter? All of the fun holidays are over and now we're just sitting here cooped up in our homes hiding from the cold. I don't know about you but I'm sure I can speak for the rest of the south by noting that we're impatiently waiting for Spring's arrival with lust in our hearts for those sunny, warm days.

Just thinking about it makes me happy.

I'd say it started about a week ago that I really began to feel the effects of the end of winter gloom setting in.  Inspiration is becoming scarce. Everything begins to feel stale...stagnant. Like the glass of water that's been sitting on your nightstand all night - what was once there to quench your thirst and provide you relief is now just a menace leaving puddles of water for you to clean up - the ice is long melted and it's now collecting dust and damaging your beautiful wood.

I've also noticed that my motivation to get anything done seems to have died around the end of January. I'm honestly not really sure what happened there but I'm not thrilled about it.

So, in honor of trying to bring some inspiration back into our lives, I've decided to post some photos from an amazing photographer that I came across recently. Her gorgeous photos have been my saving grace through this end of winter rut I've found myself in. If I could produce photos even remotely similar to this, I'd be perfectly content in life.

How To Print Your Instagram Pictures At Home!

Feb 4, 2014

I've had my own way of printing Instagram pictures pretty much since the first day of using the app. Just out of curiosity though... when I see those "print your Instagram pictures" links on Pinterest (and I see them frequently) I usually click on it to see how they do it. 95% of the time it's some kind of review for some company that charges up to $10 per print and that's not including shipping prices to actually get your prints to you. I have a much better solution for everyone today and it's so simple, you're going to want to kick yourself. Trust me.

Supplies:
- Scissors
- Photo Printer (if you'll be printing at home)
- Photo Paper (if you'll be printing at home)

Weekend "Pin"spiration: My Dream Home Office

Feb 1, 2014

Oh just doing a little dreaming...don't mind me.

This weekend's Pinspiration post is dedicated to all of the drool-worthy home offices that I'm always seeing on my Pinterest feed. To whomever owns these beautiful spaces -  I am so very jealous.

(I couldn't find any legitimate sources for any of these pictures through Pinterest so if any of these belong to you or someone you know, please email me and I will happily provide the appropriate source link!)
