Weekly Wishes | Vol. 5

Mar 2, 2015

Time already for another Weekly Wishes goal setting plan! I swear these weeks have just been flying by; anyone else feel that way too? I'm not sure if it's just part of being an "adult" or that I'm still overbooking my time, despite my best efforts to have no plans. {psh. yeah, right}

Balance is extremely hard to find between work and play in today's world and I feel like I'm failing in that respect, but it's certainly not for a lack of trying. Perhaps I'll change my approach and go from there. Obviously what I've been doing up to now is not working for me so it looks like I'll be doing some brainstorming soon. Any tips on time management would be absolutely lovely, and if you have something that's been working for you, please share! ;)

This weeks goals are...

One.

Learn to be more assertive in all aspects of my life. I've always been a bit of a wallflower so to speak. I'm not really one to be the first to speak up. While I typically have no problem taking initiative and doing what needs to be done, I'm usually quiet about it. Sometimes though, this just doesn't work. I need to learn to be more assertive, and not be afraid to speak up about things. Mainly I'm focusing on this as a job-related goal but I'm sure I could use more of this in my personal life as well.

Two.

Stay focused at work. If you don't already know, I do have a full time job outside of blogging, (hence the somewhat sporadic posting schedule I sometimes end up on) and lately I feel like I've been slacking a bit at work. Our corporate meeting was last week and lasted 3 days. THREE. And that includes dinners. So basically I was away from home from 7 am to 9 or 10 pm every night. It was exhausting but also brought me back from la-la land and helped me refocus on all the areas that I need to improve if I want to get to where I'd really like to be in the company within a 5-year span. I've been with the company almost a year and it seems that I'm getting to the phase where I lose momentum and focus. I need to snap back and concentrate on ways that I can grow with the company as well as individually. I'd be very interested in taking classes at the loacl college to increase my skill set and create more value for myself in my career. This also looks back at goal number one a little. I'm going to have to be more assertive if I'm going to pluck up the courage to ask someone to pay for a college course that I would be taking. I typically avoid asking for anything if at all possible so this will be new to me. Sending good vibes my way would be much appreciated this week!

Three.

Now that we are getting into March that means that Spring has officially started below the Mason-Dixon Line. Thank the Lord.  And here in the 'burbs of Atlanta, that also means that festival season is starting! So this week I'd like to research all free events/festivals that are happening in and around Atlanta and add them to my Simplified Weekly Planner from Emily Ley. I already have a pretty good list of things to do here but I'm looking to have it more in my face so that if I find myself with a little free time on the weekend and there's something that will get Evelyn and I out of the house then I'll know by just looking at my planner. (I don't go anywhere without it, so it's great for convenience' sake)

And that's it for my goals this week. have you been keeping any weekly goals? If so (or even if you'd simply like to start now!) head over to The Nectar Collective and join the link up every Monday! You can also get there by clicking the button in my sidebar --->

Happy Monday everyone!
